Iraq War 6th Anniversary 3/19
Dana is going to talk to Steve from Coalition for Change to
see if they have any ideas or plans for this day. Dana suggested we collect
shoes, tag them with names of those who have died in the war, both soldiers and
Iraqi civilians, and fill the steps of the Courthouse with the shoes and have a
vigil. Judy suggested we look at the Eyes Wide Open website for ideas for an
action.
There will be an event in Melbourne on 3/21. Depending on
the event, Epec has been asked to participate. We will definitely endorse their
event.
EPEC Annual Meeting
Tom suggested a date earlier than last year so that snow
birds can attend. The meeting has to coincide with nominations for new
officers. The suggested date is March 29 on Sunday afternoon. For speakers,
Robert suggested Donna Roberts an FGCU professor and Archie Goodwin. Tom
suggested Jeff Nall from Melbourne. Rick suggested an activist from Sarasota.
A nominating committee is needed to nominate officers for
next year. Tom is going to ask Nancy Howell to serve in this position.
